Certified Advanced Gas Detection

Selman wholly owns and develops the software used with our Certified Advanced Gas Detection equipment. Drawing on decades of field experience, our systems can use Mass Spectrometry, Flame Ionization Detection, or both to provide fast sample speed, linear readings, broad gas-species coverage, and low detection limits.

Our equipment can measure up to 34 distinct gases every 7–10 seconds, including alkanes, paraffins, naphthalenes, aromatics, atmospheric compounds, sulfur species, and additional compounds. This enhanced gas dataset strengthens Hydrocarbon Gas Detection, supports formation correlation, and gives technical teams more information from each gas sample.

Digital Sample Pictures and Photo Logs

Selman advances digital photo microscopy by creating a detailed Photo Log that documents the sample-analysis process. Using proprietary methods, our teams obtain a lithology sample at approximately 10-foot intervals even during rapid drilling. The resulting images provide a visual record that complements the conventional mud log and strengthens Formation Evaluation Services.

Through the LogIt® Viewer, users can open full-sized sample photographs during and after drilling. This virtual sample tray makes it easier to recognize lithological changes, compare intervals, correlate wells, and preserve information for future review without adding unnecessary field manpower.

Mobile App: Put the Rig in Your Pocket™

The Selman Surface Logging app provides near-real-time access to logs, reports, streaming data, and cuttings sample pictures from an internet-connected phone or tablet. It extends Real-Time Drilling Data beyond the office and helps authorized users review current information without waiting for email updates.

Standardized Steering Reports

For qualifying horizontal and deviated wells, Selman’s standardized steering reports clearly visualize the drilling situation in relation to the wellbore and formation. Reports generated through proprietary Dimensional Steering Services™ software help geologists, engineers, directional drillers, and managers communicate from start to finish.

GeoChemical Surface Logging

Selman can quantify aspects of drill cuttings and formation gas using Mass Spectrometry, X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), and calcimetry. These measurements support mineralogical, elemental, carbonate, and organic-content evaluation in unconventional reservoirs.
