Led by Tom Selman, an experienced wellsite licensed professional geologist, the company was among the early innovators to computerize surface logging. Since then, Selman has logged thousands of wells using proprietary Windows applications developed in-house by loggers for loggers.

Selman wholly owns and develops the software used with its Certified Advanced Gas Detection equipment, applying more than 30 years of field experience.
Using Mass Spectrometry, Flame Ionization Detection, or both, the system is designed to provide faster sample speeds, more linear readings, more gas species, and lower detection limits.

The Selman Surface Logging mobile application provides near-real-time access to logs, reports, streaming data, and cuttings sample pictures from an internet-connected smartphone or tablet.

As part of the standard two-person logging service, Selman provides two Steering Reports per day at no additional charge for qualifying deviated and horizontal wells.
The reports are generated from Selman’s proprietary Dimensional Steering Services™ geosteering software and clearly visualize the current drilling situation relative to the borehole and formation – even for non-geologists.
These reports help interdisciplinary teams communicate consistently from the beginning of the project through completion.
Selman’s geochemical services help unlock the potential of unconventional reservoirs by quantifying drill cuttings and formation gas while drilling.
These measurements provide a richer view of reservoir quality, composition, and variability throughout the well.
